Notes:
Increase by knitting in the front and back of the stitch – Kfb
Seam with right sides facing by whip stitching or however you like.
If you make your mitten just one color then I think it does not matter which side is which, but I did not like the way my seam looked when I had the first ridge on the reverse.
When I join the gap that the thumb bind off stitches create, I use the “cross over join” method.
Crossover join diagram here and a video here.
Originally these had a short row in the center but they fit the same with our without it so I decided to omit the short row. If anyone really would like to work the short row it is done on rows 12-14
12. K58, turn, leaving 12 sts unworked
13. Slip 1st st and K45, turn, leaving 12 sts unworked. - Ridge 7
14. Slip 1st st and K across to end of row.

Feel free to work short rows any way you prefer. I used the traditional Short Row Wrap and Pick Up because that is what I know best. Just don't forget to pick up the wrapped sts on the way back!
If you don't want to work short rows, just omit them by knitting rows 9-16 in plain garter stitch. You won't have that "gathered in" look at the wrist, and they might be a little loose for smaller wrist sizes, but they are easier to work.
If you want to add on extra stitches for a longer cuff, place a marker before and after the extra stitches, and follow the directions using the original stitch counts, but starting from the markers. Here I added on 5 extras stitches at the beginning and end (the cuff parts).
